So, in this article I’m explaining you how to prevent someone from adding you to WhatsApp Group. This new feature is known as WhatsApp Group Privacy Setting and it is available for both Android and iOS users.
Before we explain you how you can enable these settings on your device, first of all make sure that you have installed the latest version of WhatsApp. If you have older version installed in your device, then you can update it to the latest WhatsApp version by visiting Google play store or App store.
How to Enable Group Privacy Settings on your Device?
Follow the below mentioned steps to prevent someone from adding you to WhatsApp Group:
Step 1: Open your WhatsApp Account and click on three dots on the top right corner.
Step 2: Now select Settings from the drop down menu.
Step 3: Then click on Accounts and got to Privacy option shown.
Step 4: Scroll down and there you will see a Groups option, Click on it.
Step 5: On clicking, you will see three options as “Everyone”, “My Contacts” and “My Contacts Except”.
Step 6: Among these options, select “My Contacts Except”.
Step 7: Now a list of contacts will appear on the screen showing all the saved WhatsApp contacts of your phone. Select “All Contacts” from top of the screen and tap on “Done”.
That’s it. Now if anyone wants to add you in any group, then he won’t be able to do so without your consent.
To add you in any group, he/she has to send you a group invite link showing the group name with group icon, clicking on which you will be asked whether you want to join the group or not. If agree, then click on Join Group and you will be added in that group.
Also there is time limit of 72 hours within which you have to join the group via the invite link. After 72 hours of invitation, the group invite link will expire. To join the group again, the person has to again send the group invite link to you.

How To Block a Particular Person in WhatsApp?
However sometimes you want to block and prevent a specific person from messaging you on WhatsApp. For this, follow the below steps:
Step 1: Go to your WhatsApp account.
Step 2: Now search for the contact that you want to block.
Step 3: Tap on the Name or Phone Number, this will open the person’s chat room.
Step 4: Now click on the name/phone number displayed on top near profile picture.
Step 5: Scroll down and you will see a option as “Block”.
Step 6: Tap on “Block” and a pop up will appear with options as ‘Cancel’ & ‘Block’.
Step 7: Now click on ‘Block’ if you want, and the person will no longer be able to contact you via WhatsApp.
