Instagram shared a blog post stating that, “We know that sometimes hackers delete posts and contents when they gain access to an account and until now users had no way of easily getting their photos and videos back. So starting today, we will ask users to first verify that they are the original account holders when permanently deleting or restoring any contents from Recently Deleted”.

How To Restore Deleted Photos and Stories on Instagram
Follow the below steps to restore your deleted posts on Instagram:
Step 1: Open your Instagram account.

Step 2: Then click on your profile picture located at bottom right corner.
Step 3: Now click on three horizontal lines on the top right corner.

Step 4: Upon clicking, you will see a list of options. Among them, tap on Settings.

Step 5: Then go to Account option.
Step 6: Scroll down until you see the Recently Deleted option, and click on it.

Step 7: Now select the post or story that you want to restore.
Step 8: Then click on three dots and tap on Restore.
After this, all your selected posts and stories will be restored back in few seconds. Before proceeding the above method, make sure that you have installed the latest version of Instagram.

Instagram said that all the photos, videos, Reels, Stories and IGTV videos that you delete will be immediately removed from your account and moved to the Recently Deleted folder. Now if any user wants to restore them, then they can do so by heading towards Recently Deleted folder located inside Settings.

The posts and stories will be permanently deleted after the number of days mentioned below the post or stories. And after that, you will not be able to restore them again. Users will also have the option to permanently delete them by selecting Permanent Delete option from the folder.
How To Archive an Instagram Post
Archiving a post in Instagram means removing a post from public access, so that it can only be seen by you.
You can archive an Instagram post instead of deleting it. That means you will always have the access to that post and it will be available only to you.
Step 1: Go to the post that you want to archive.
Step 2: Then click on three dots on the top right corner of the post.

Step 3: Now click on Archive, and your post will be archived.

How To Archive an Instagram Story
To archive an Instagram story, follow the below mentioned steps:
Step 1: Open your Instagram Account.
Step 2: Then go to the top right corner and select the hamburger menu or three dots.

Step 3: Now click on Archive.

Step 4: Then on the next screen, select the three dots and click on settings.

Step 5: After that select Save Story to Archive or toggle ON to Save Live Video to Archive.
