What is Digilocker and mParivahan App?
Digilocker and mParivahan App are applications launched by the government of India, where people can upload and save their important documents safely without the fear of leak of data and personal information.

Using mParivahan app, you can also get all the necessary information related to any vehicle, RTOs, status of documents etc.
The government of India has confirmed that the presentation of driving license, vehicle registration papers and other important documents through DigiLocker and mParivahan apps in soft copy format is valid and acceptable in all the states of India.

Also the ministry of road transport said in a statement, “The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued an advisory to states to accept Driving License, Registration Certificate or other documents in ‘electronic form’ presented through DigiLocker or mParivahan platform as valid under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and treat them at par with the certificates issued by the transport authorities”.

How And Where To Save Driving License and RC In Phone?
To save driving license, RC and other important documents in your Smartphone, first of all you have to install DigiLocker or mParivahan app in your Smartphone, in which you can save the soft copy of your documents easily and safely.
So whenever you forget your driving license, RC or any other documents related to your vehicle at home or your documents are lost or stolen, then these apps will proves to be the most helpful for you. And if you have a soft copy of driving license and RC saved in DigiLocker or mParivahan app, then you can easily save yourself from traffic police for deducting the challan by showing it.
How To Create Account on DigiLocker?
Follow the below mentioned steps to create your account in Digilocker:
Step 1: First of all make sure that your phone number is linked with Aadhaar Number. If the mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar, then you will not be able to use the DigiLocker app.
Step 2: If your phone number is registered with Aadhaar Number, then go to the official website of digitallocker.gov.in.

Step 3: Now Click on Sign Up and Enter your name, date of birth, registered mobile number, email id and password in the required fields provided. Note that here you have to create your own password.

Step 4: After that, enter your Aadhaar card number. On entering the Aadhaar Number, two options will be shown as: OTP and Fingerprint. Here you can use any one of these options as per your choice.
Step 5: Once this process is completed, you have create your own username and password. Using this username and password, you will be able to log in to your DigiLocker account.

How To Upload Documents In Digilocker?
After creating a fresh account in Digilocker by following the above explained steps, you can follow the below mentioned steps to upload your documents in your Digilocker account:
Step 1: Log in to your DigiLocker account by entering the username and password.
Step 2: Now, two sections will appear in your personal account. In the first section, you will find the certificates issued by different agencies, their URL links, the date of issue and the option to share. And in the second one, you will see options of the uploaded Certificates, Summary (Brief), Share and E-Sign.
Step 3: For uploading documents, choose the appropriate option from the options given there.
Step 4: If you want to upload any certificate, then click on My Certificate.

Step 5: After this, click on Upload Document and select your certificate/document.
Step 6: Now fill all the required fields asked on that page.
So, in this way you can upload all your important documents in DigiLocker easily.

How To Create Account on mParivahaan?
Step 1: Go to Google Playstore or Apple App Store and search for ‘mParivahaan‘ app.
Step 2: Now click on ‘mParivahaan’ app and then tap to Install it.
Step 3: After installation, open the app and click on “Sign Up” for creating a new account.
Step 4: Now enter your mobile number.
Step 5: After entering mobile number, an OTP will be sent.
Step 6: Then click on Verify.
Now you have successfully created account in mParivahan app.
For Signing in, simply enter the registered mobile number. Then an OTP will be sent to the mobile number and upon entering the OTP, you will be logged in to the mParivahan app.
How To Download Virtual RC From mParivahan App?
Step 1: Open the mParivahaan app.
Step 2: You will see three lines on the right hand side, tap on it.
Step 3: Now the option of Sign in will appear, click on it.

Step 4: Here enter your mobile number and SMS verification code sent to the number.
Step 5: After that go to the home screen of the app and click on RC information.
Step 6: Now a Search box will appear, enter the number of the vehicle in it and click on search.
Step 7: After this, the data related to the vehicle registration number will be fetched automatically.

Step 8: Now you can add you RC by clicking on the option of ‘Add to dashboard’.
Step 9: To create “Virtual RC” click on the ‘Add dashboard for Virtual RC’.
Step 10: Now on a new screen enter the “Date of Birth” and click on Verify.
Now your Virtual RC is created successfully.
