WhatsApp Pay digital payment service has been officially launched in India. With the help of this service, users can now make payments during chatting with anyone anywhere. This service can offer a great competition to digital wallets available in the market like Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe etc.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) recently approved WhatsApp’s UPI service “WhatsApp Pay” to launch in India. After which WhatsApp Pay has officially launched in India.
As we know that Mark Zuckerberg’s company was testing it in India for a long time, which has now been made available for Android and iOS users. But in the first segment of WhatsApp Pay, NPCI has set a limit of 2 crore Indian users. That means that only limited number of users will get the option to use the payment feature of WhatsApp right now.
What is WhatsApp Pay?
WhatsApp Pay service was running on beta testing in India for the last two years. Because it was not officially launched due to some technical problems coming in it. But now after approval from NPCI and Govt. of India, it has been made available to Indian users. This is a UPI based service and with its help, users can send money to anyone in just one click like photos, videos & emojis in the chat box itself.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that
“Sending money will be now as easy as sending a message, photos & videos. Now you can send money to your friends and family through WhatsApp as easily as sending a message. There’s no fee, and it’s supported by more than 140 banks. And because it’s WhatsApp, it’s secure and private too.“
Will Support 10 Languages
WhatsApp Pay service is going to be available in 10 local languages of India and users can use any of these languages as per their convenience. This feature is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
